Font - r/antiwork u/tellmeastorybitch • 1d $111 Recruiter chewed me out. I like my job, but not my pay. I told this to my boss, he tried to get me a raise, but wasn't able to. So I told him I'm going to look at other jobs and he said. he didn't blame me.

Font - Found a job, interviewed well and last week, I got an offer for 15% higher pay. I gave my boss notice and he told me to wait so that he could talk to his boss. 3 days later, they came back to match the pay. I figured the new job wasn't exactly my dream gig so I chose to stay with my current job at the new rate.

Handwriting - When I told the recruiter that I'm declining their offer, she basically accused me of applying for jobs just so I could negotiate a pay raise at my current job and that it's unethical for me to apply when I'm not really going to take the job and that I wasted her time and the interviewers, etc.

Smile - I was so unprepared for her reaction that I just kind of stayed silent until the call ended. My wife called that recruiter a crazy bitch, but I'm wondering if AITA here.

Font - PaulFThumpkins 18h ● I get her being frustrated, but no way is what OP did unethical. We currently have a major issue with underpayment for regular workers; gaining information about how much you're "worth" and raising your salary is an appropriate use of job searching. It ultimately leads to more equity. You can't help what obnoxious incentives somebody else may have for their job. ... 859

Font - mewthulhu. 16h 3 11 Awards Unethical is telling people you're on their team and working for them when they're just the product. Unethical is acting buddy buddy with someone as long as you're getting a commission then turning into a rabid wolverine the moment they stop playing ball. Unethical is this entire subreddit of recruiter nightmare stories, and their fucking gaslighting about being on your side when nobody in this world would fuck you over faster than these bottom feeders who have

Font - ApprehensiveAlgae105 Bad recruiters are worthless. A good one would never burn a bridge like this because it means they wouldn't be recommended by a candidate in the future. I've had situations like OP described and I've always gotten nothing but support from the recruiters. I've gone on to recommend them to other candidates or companies because of their professionalism. ● 16h In a place where connections and networking is key, not many survive if they carry on like this honestly. ... 148

Font - ohfucknotthisagain. 1d People accept counteroffers all the time. Personally, I don't because they should pay me before I go through the hassle of finding another job. But... It's common enough that a recruiter shouldn't be surprised. Some people are greedy, self-centered, and rude. Her behavior was unprofessional, and I'd report it to her company, if she works for one. ← Reply ... 333
